Nourishing School
In a world where plenty still suffer from hunger, one out of every nine individuals battles undernourishment, while a staggering one in three grapples with issues of excessive weight or obesity. Shockingly, nearly a quarter of all children below the age of five experience stunted growth, highlighting that this problem manifests early, often becoming a chronic struggle.
Irrespective of a nation's economic prosperity, the specter of malnutrition looms large, and progress towards eradicating it has been disappointingly slow. In a bid to effect transformative change, the SRKPS and NSF (Nourishing School Foundation) have joined hands, launching a pioneering pilot program, "Nourishing School," with the noble aim of combating malnutrition in rural India. This initiative fervently supports the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals 3 and 4, targeting good health and well-being, as well as quality education for all.
Working hand in hand to mitigate undernutrition, SRKPS is now conducting extensive surveys in schools, reaching out to students within the target demographic. Acting as a vital link, SRKPS connects them with essential under-nutrition reduction programs. This vital initiative focuses on schoolchildren in grades 4 through 9, recognizing the pivotal role early intervention plays in reversing the devastating effects of malnutrition.
Each school survey is meticulously designed to encompass up to 120 students, ensuring a balanced representation of both boys and girls, with 20 students assessed in each grade. The program extends its reach to the districts of Jaipur, Jhujhunu, and Sikar in Rajasthan, where the need is most acute. This initiative is poised to make a profound difference in the lives of these young learners, heralding hope for a healthier, more nourished future.
